Lines Below the Staff

So far in our music reading sequence, we have the lines and spaces of the staff, plus the spaces below. We will next learn the lines below. There are only 3 lines under the staff. Again, we will keep our note-tone groups in sets of 5. You know 2 of these 5 already.

Octaves Above & Below

What were spaces on the staff are lines below. An octave will always be line to space or space to line. It is an even interval. Odd intervals are line to line or space to space. See Odds/Evens in Deep Reading.

3 New Note-Tones

Low F = -3 Line = 6 string, fret 1.

Low A = -2 Line = 5 string, open.

Middle C = -1 Line = 5 string, fret 3.

We already know Middle E [Line 1] & Middle G [Line 2]. We are keeping these in groups of 5. Overlap helps.

Play these tones over and over, in any order, saying aloud the note-head location [line/space and the corresponding number] & the string/fret combination.
